ABSTRACT

The issue of homosexuality has become a conundrum for contemporary scholarship without any consensus. Many scholars have shown profound interest in the ongoing debate on homosexuality. Homosexuality in the contemporary situation has become divisive and a source of discord in families and societies across the world. Fascinatingly, both the pros and the cons have made appeals to interdisciplinarity in the argument for and against homosexuality. Liberal scholars maintain that homosexuality is hereditary hence innate, and therefore, unchangeable sexual orientation with an appeal to the society for acceptance. On the other hand, the fundamentalists maintain that homosexuality is a social construct and as such changeable and advocate for its rejection. Against this background, this study is poised to take a critical evaluation of the opposing views with the aim of finding the most suitable solution to the deadening social phenomenon that has not only destroyed the unity of the church but the society at large.
