ABSTRACT

This paper seeks to find out if students who are religiously inclined in Nigerian universities perform better than their counterparts. To carry out the study, a 20 item questionnaire was constructed to differentiate between born-again students and those who were not born-again. The sample consisted of 320 year three students. To obtain their academic performance scores, their first semester 2006/2007 academic session scores on general courses were used. Thereafter an independent t-test analysis was used and the result showed that there was no significant difference in the performance of born-again and nonborn again students. Plausible reasons were given for the result obtained and recommendations made for the improvement of students social, emotional and academic life in the university system.
