ABSTRACT
In Nigeria, there are cries from various quarters on the levels of degeneration, poverty, and decay. Armed robbery, bribery, corruption, nepotism, bickering, and hopelessness seem to be the order of the day. Nigerian youths inherit uncertainty, joblessness, and hopelessness as their rights of citizenship. The pathetic plight of majority of Nigerians can be attributed to the insensitivities of the leadership to reverse the culture of corruption and embezzlement of public funds. When the money meant to cater for a million people is deposited in an individual's foreign account, people are impoverished. Be that as it may, Nigeria is full of poor people living in poor homes, eating poor food, and drinking poor water among others. The irony of the whole thing is that philosophers both old and young have kept quiet and have not raised their voices of reason to condemn such ills. The purpose of this research is a re-awakening and a clarion call to philosophers to use their instruments of philosophic thinking in playing the role of conscientising the citizens of Nigeria in building a healthy and developing nation where her citizens would be proud to call their own.
