PRAYER, FAITH-HEALING AND THE WILL TO LIVE Prof. Etim E. Okon

PRAYER, FAITH-HEALING AND THE WILL TO LIVE Prof. Etim E. Okon, ISCPRCE, ASBS

ABSTRACT

The power of the will to live is derived from the survival instinct that is inherent in human beings. Survival instinct is the first and most important endowment of all humans. Nobody wants to die. Death is not only negative but a nonbeing. The will to live is traceable to the resilience of the human spirit. The will to live is a powerful and unquenchable force in every human being to fight for survival against any threat to life. The will to live as a force is stronger in some people than in others. When human beings face the spirit of death in the form of a life-threatening illness, the will to live is activated through the patient's attitude and fighting spirit. When human life is in a danger zone, patients with positive attitudes have the chance to respond to therapy, and possibly reverse the illness. Life-threatening illnesses are not fated. Any sickness can be reversed through the will to live.
